What are the benefits of reflexology for children and babies?
- Colic, constipation, teething, glue ear and other common ailments may be eased and helped.
- It may boost the immune system to help reduce susceptibility to common colds and illnesses.
- It is relaxing and rejuvenating.
- May improve disturbed sleep.
- May help to reduce hyperactivity or ‘low moods’.
- Eczema, asthma, hay fever might be eased and helped.
- Works towards optimizing health and relaxation so may help in preparation for exams, competitive sport or performance.
How long is a treatment?
This will vary depending on the baby or child. Generally, the younger the child the shorter a session will be. Babies may require only a few minutes and I am happy to demonstrate to parents/carers so that they can get involved too.
How may treatments will my child need?
Again, this depends on the baby or child. Usually children are very responsive to reflexology so may just need a few short sessions with no follow up treatments.
Will a parent/carer need to be present at the treatment?
The Association of Reflexologists requires all clients under the age of 16 to be accompanied to the appointment by someone with parental responsibility for that child, and that person to remain on the premises for the duration of the session. It is preferable for clients between 16 - 18 years of age to be accompanied to the session too. The person with parental responsibility will be required to sign a consent form for the baby or child to be treated.
